Laurie Berkner

*disclaimer* This is just a little blog to help with my journalling for my scrapbooks...I've been thinking of them a lot lately and I just needed to get my thoughts in order.

First Idea in my Head : A music Album
I want to do an album about music. Music that moves me, music that makes me smile and music that reminds me of things.

First LO to do in my album: Laurie Berkner

No she's not Madonna, or Brittany. Her band isn't the Dixie Chicks, GoGos or even the Bangles. She's Laurie Berkner. Ask any child whose 3 and watches Noggin. They will be able to sing about being a Dinosaur or Pigs on your head. Munchkin especially loves her. Everytime we get in the van, he immediately asks for, "the Rudabega song, please". So when the opportunity came for us to actually go and see Laurie Berkner live in concert in DC, I could hardly say no. We traveled to my parents and then to the concert at the 9:30 club. A club thats usually filled with mosh pits was now covered in bright preschool colors and white picket fences...not quite something KORN would like. There were "bouncers" covered in tatoos and large peircings saying things like, "well it's never been this cheery"...LOL. The funny thing was they were not having to deal with crazed drunk fans...just parents and their screaming tired children. I'm sure they'd rather take the fans over us. When he saw Laurie come out on stage, he didn't sing or dance or even smile. I was kinda shocked. I mean I expected some grand reaction. Something like "MOSH PIT!" and him to start all the others going. But no such luck. Mostly it was just staring. I'm pretty sure he was in awe that he got to see her in real life and he couldn't react any other way. I hope it was everything he wanted it to be. The parents were a little fiesty, not enough seating and all,but we were close and had fun. If you promise not to tell anyone it may have just been the best concert I've been too. But that's not saying much since I've only seen Rod Stewart and Diamond Rio, yeah my life isn't filled with crazy concerts and loud music. So Laurie was great, I'd definitely go again, although I'm sure when Bee's get's older Barney will have made his way back around, not sure I can stand, "Aapples and Banaanaas".
